June 18, every year is observed as World Autistic Pride Day, to motivate autistic people to be proud of themselves and to remind others with autism that it′s ok and acceptable to be different. It was first celebrated by Aspies for Freedom (AFF) Day in 2005, to celebrate the birthday of the group′s youngest member at the time. AFF′s objective is to educate the public about autism and to show that it has both positive and negative aspects.

The day is commemorated every year, and "autistic pride" refers to a shift in perceptions of autism from "illness" to "diversity." People with autism come forward on this day to communicate and celebrate the subject of Autistic Pride Day 2022 in their own style.

With the theme ′Inclusion in the Workplace: Challenges and Opportunities in a Post-Pandemic World,′ Autistic Pride Day 2022 emphasizes the importance of autistic patients′ engagement in the workplace. The Covid-19 epidemic impacted the well-being of autistic youngsters due to movement restrictions which disrupted their schooling and daily routines. The United Nations′ Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG 4) aims to provide everyone with high-quality education and opportunities for lifelong learning.

This year′s theme emphasizes that people with autism, like everyone else, have the right to a good education. They can stand shoulder to shoulder with others with the help of modern education. Stakeholders must create a climate conducive to high-quality education, particularly for these individuals. (guidely.in, June 17, 2022)
